How to organize your grocery list by aisle
Group by department, not by recipe
The most common mistake people make is writing a grocery list recipe by recipe — chicken for tacos, chicken for stir fry, chicken for soup. You end up visiting the meat section three times. Instead, combine all your chicken needs into one line under "Meat," all your produce together, all your dairy together. This tool does that automatically.
Follow the store's natural flow
Most grocery stores follow a similar layout: produce first, then bakery, deli, dairy along the back wall, meat, frozen in the middle aisles, and pantry staples throughout. When your list follows this flow, you make one clean loop instead of zigzagging back and forth. Our categories are designed to match the way most stores are arranged.
Check as you go
Pull this page up on your phone at the store and tap items as you add them to your cart. Checked items fade out so you can focus on what's left. If you'd rather go analog, hit the print button for a paper version with checkboxes.
Combine duplicates, reduce waste
When you're cooking multiple meals in a week, the same ingredients show up in different recipes — onions, garlic, olive oil, butter. A combined list means you buy the right total amount once instead of eyeballing it three times. Less waste, fewer trips, lower bill.
